Born in the 'Cuse
The Orange Crate Brewing Company sits at the center of life on Syracuse University’s Hill. Students, alumni, and neighbors meet here for cold drinks, good music, and game days that feel like home. Our name says Brewing Co., but this is a bar first, with a hand-picked craft beer list and a room that fills up fast when the Orange are on.
A Legacy on The Hill
Owner R. C. Faigle is the 32nd member of his family to attend SU. The family story goes back to 1924, when his grandmother graduated. His grandfather, former dean Eric H. Faigle, is tied to the Hall of Languages, and his father played on the 1959 national championship football team. Orange Crate is part of that history and part of the campus community.
From Lucy’s to The Crate
Many people knew us as Lucy’s. Before that, The Orange and Lucy’s Retired Surfers Bar. In 2013 we moved to South Crouse Ave. and became Orange Crate Brewing Co. The name changed. The feel stayed the same. Same welcoming room. Same busy nights. Same spot friends tell friends to meet.
